Kathmandu,Nepal: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier of Nepal, has announced a special rescue flight operation between Kathmandu and Bhairahawa on October 10, 2024, which coincides with Fulpati, an important day of the Bada Dashain festival. This decision comes in response to the travel difficulties faced by citizens due to significant damage caused by floods and landslides to various highways and roads leading from the Kathmandu Valley.
The initiative was taken following instructions from Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, as explained by Yubaraj Adhikari, Executive Chair of the corporation. The primary aim is to facilitate travel for those wishing to reach their destinations during the Dashain festival, one of Nepal's most important celebrations.
According to the flight schedule released by NAC, an A320 aircraft will depart from Kathmandu at 11:00 AM, heading to Bhairahawa. The return flight from Bhairahawa to Kathmandu is scheduled for 12:30 PM on the same day. The state-owned airline has set the fares at Rs 7,000 for the Kathmandu to Bhairahawa route and Rs 3,890 for the return flight.
Passengers can book their tickets through NAC's internal ticketing office, their official website (www.nepalairlines.com.np), or via online booking platforms. Given the special nature of these flights and the high demand expected during the festive season, travelers are encouraged to secure their bookings early. This rescue flight operation underscores the crucial role of Nepal's national carrier in supporting citizens during challenging times and important cultural events.
