The 2024 World Airline Awards, often dubbed the "Oscars of the aviation industry," have revealed this year’s best airlines based on a survey of 21 million passengers across 100 countries. Qatar Airways clinched the top spot, dethroning Singapore Airlines, and marking its eighth win in the award's 25-year history. Passengers praised Qatar Airways for its comfort, excellent food, modern entertainment, and warm service.
European airlines made a notable impact, with Turkish Airlines ranked as the Best Airline in Europe, securing the seventh spot overall. Turkish Airlines was also recognized for its outstanding Business Class Catering. Air France-KLM Group took ninth place, with Air France winning accolades for its First Class services and being named the Best Airline in Western Europe. Swiss International Air Lines completed the top 10, also earning recognition for its First Class Lounge at Zurich Airport.
The top five airlines were dominated by Middle Eastern and Asian carriers, with Singapore Airlines, Emirates, ANA All Nippon Airways, and Cathay Pacific following Qatar Airways. Japan Airlines and Taiwan’s EVA Air also featured prominently in the top 10.
In the budget airline category, AirAsia was named the best low-cost carrier for the 14th consecutive year. European budget airlines also performed well, with Spain’s Volotea, France’s Transavia, and others securing spots in the top 10.
Delta Air Lines was recognized as the best airline in North America, although no North American carriers made it into the top 10 overall.
The 2024 rankings highlight the global competition and excellence in the airline industry, offering travelers a guide to the best flying experiences worldwide.
